Rumor check

GTA 6 File Size: Official 212 GB vs the 230 GB Box Leak

A photo of a retail GTA 6 box claims 230 GB. Rockstar's own figure is 212 GB. Here is what we know.

Published ยท Updated

On November 7 a story spread that a leaked physical copy of GTA 6 lists a 230 GB storage requirement.

What is confirmed

Rockstar's official pre-load figure is up to 212 GB, and the final install size may differ slightly between PS5 and Xbox.

Why the numbers can differ

  • Retail boxes are printed weeks in advance and often round up.
  • A day-one patch adds to the download.
  • Install size and download size are not the same thing.

Our advice: free up around 230 GB anyway. If the official number holds, you have room for the patch.
